Personal Statement
Like many who didn’t grow up here, I was captivated by Park City from the moment I arrived. My first visit was in the winter of 1978 on a ski trip with the Atlanta Ski Club. I spent more time on lift rides turned backward to admire the views than looking downhill. And I stayed out too late at local watering holes that no longer exist.

After decades in the corporate world and with our sons off to college, my wife Jamie and I knew it was time to write our next chapter. Park City was the obvious choice. We’d come for years on ski trips. Our boys learned to ski as Reindeer. And in 2014, we made this place home.

We didn’t know a soul when we moved here, but Park City embraced us. We jumped into everything - concerts at the Egyptian, days on the slopes or golf course, evenings with new friends. Quickly, we started to understand the complexity of life in a town shaped by tourism, climate change, housing pressures, and state policies that don’t always align with local needs.

I was raised to produce more than I consume. That value is what led me to run for State Senate in 2018, focused on one core principle: local control. I didn’t run to gain power. I ran to return it. You can imagine how that played out in Utah's political landscape.

Now, seven years deeper into Park City life, I see another opportunity to serve. This is a town in motion - growing, evolving, redefining itself with every new plan and project. And while the voices of our ski resorts, developers, nonprofits, and tourism operators are very well represented, the voices of everyday residents are too often dismissed.
If elected Mayor, I will put residents first in every decision that comes from City Hall. I’ll protect our cultural heritage, fight for policies that keep Park City accessible, and make sure local values aren’t suffocatedt by outside pressures. My campaign will be rooted in truth, intelligent discussion, respectful debate, and a shared love of this remarkable place.
I believe Park City’s people are its greatest strength. And if I have the privilege to serve, I’ll work every day to ensure that our future reflects who we are and who we want to be.
Personal & Professional Highlights
I am a seasoned executive who has led several commercial and nonprofit organizations.

Having earned a BSC from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth, I began my career in finance in New York. I worked in capital markets and real estate banking before launching an institutional asset management division for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and growing it to a large enterprise.
While continuing my career in finance, I joined the board of Let’s Get Ready, a nonprofit in the college access space. During my 11-year tenure, serving as Chair for the last three, LGR grew from serving 500 first generation college aspirants to over 5,000 per year.

In 2013, I partnered with other individuals to buy up approximately 1400 nonviable homes throughout the Midwest. We renovated the homes and made nearly all available as affordable Section 8 housing with priority given to minority single mothers so families would have a leg up coming out of the previous recession.

Also in 2013, I navigated the newly legal medical cannabis space, securing necessary permits and opening a facility in Connecticut. In 2019, having advocated for successful passage of Prop 2 in Utah, I co-founded a medical cannabis facility in Salt Lake.

My wife of 33 years, Jamie, and I moved to Park City full time in 2014 and reside in Park Meadows. Since coming to Utah, I ran for Utah State Senate, co-founded a successful start-up, and actively support several local non-profits.

In 2020, a couple friends and I established the Most Vulnerable Fund. We raised over $300,000 for Summit County residents and workers unable to qualify for federal relief programs during Covid. The Christian Center disbursed the monies to people at risk of losing shelter in order that they cover rent and utility expenses.

I am the proud father of two adult sons and an active skier, biker, golfer, and reader.
